Six Tips For Becoming a Debt Free Christian

Becoming a debt free Christian can
be one the most difficult hurdles to clear on the way to
faithful Christian stewardship. The formula is quite simple:
"Spend less than you make and save the rest!" The hard part is
doing it.
Use the following tips as a guide
for your journey toward financial freedom.
Tip #1: Pray and
work. In the Old Testament when Nehemiah was faced
with the insurmountable task of rebuilding the walls of
Jerusalem, he prayed hard and then he worked hard. Read the
book of Nehemiah to see this model in action. Cling to the Lord
during this difficult time. This is a spiritual battle as well
as a physical one.
Tip #2: Deal with the immediate
financial crisis. You have to stop the leaks in the
boat before you begin to bail the water out. This means getting
on a written budget and sticking to it. A pad and paper is
great, but if your tech savvy then you might want to try some
budget software.
Tip #3: Prune. Get rid
of or refine those things that are financial anchors. Examine
the cost of big ticket items like auto loans and high insurance
premiums. Also, look for expensive "toys" that you could sell
or trade in.
Tip #4: Stay clear of Christian
debt consolidation and other scams. You got into this
mess over time and it will take time to get out. If you are
promised an easy out...it is probably a scam. Remember
Nehemiah. Pray hard and work hard.
Tip #5: Generate more
income. To become a debt free Christian one may need
to increase income while cutting expenses. Starting your own
internet business is one possible way to generate additional
part time income.
Tip #6: Keep educating
yourself. Look for additional resources and articles
to assist you in your journey. Most importantly, never give up.
You can do it! Pray like it's totally up to God...work like
it's totally up to you!
